The Gateway to Dalsland

Tresticklan National Park

Tresticklan National Park is one of the most unspoiled natural areas in southern Sweden and a popular destination in Dalsland. The national park is located in Dals-Ed near the border with Norway and features vast forests, tranquil lakes, and untamed nature. Here you can experience a landscape that is almost entirely free of roads and settlements, making the area perfect for hiking and exploring nature.

One of southern Sweden's largest wilderness areas

Tresticklan National Park covers nearly 29 square kilometers of forest, lakes, and wetlands. The area is known for its old-growth coniferous forests, rocky hills, and many small lakes. It is also one of the largest contiguous forested areas without roads in southern Sweden.

The distinctive terrain, with its long, narrow ridges and valleys, was formed during the Ice Age and gives the area a unique and rugged appearance.

Hiking and Nature Experiences

The national park is especially popular for hiking. There are several marked trails here that take you through the forest, past lakes, and up to scenic overlooks in the area.

One of the highest points is Orshöjden, which lies about 276 meters above sea level and offers a beautiful view of the landscape.

Thanks to the unspoiled natural surroundings, you may occasionally spot animals such as moose, deer, and various bird species during your hike.

Outing from Vita Sandars Camping

Tresticklan National Park is the perfect destination for those who want to experience more of Dalsland’s nature during their stay. Here, you can hike in peace and quiet, discover tranquil forest lakes, and enjoy one of Sweden’s wildest landscapes.

A visit to the national park makes for a great day trip from Vita Sandars Camping and offers a completely different nature experience than beach life on Lake Vänern.

Along with other attractions in the area, such as the Dalsland Canal and the aqueduct in Håverud, Tresticklan is an interesting stop on a day trip through the region.
